The Embarrassment - Heyday 1979-1983

The Embarrassment suffered from making the wrong music in the wrong place at the wrong time. It also didn't help that they only stuck around for 4 years. These guys come from Wichita Kansas, a place not really known for its music scene. Despite the fact that they created some of the most original music of the time (to this day I have heard few bands that sound anything at all like them) The Embarrassment only had a very small loyal fan base, while their coastal contemporaries (groups like Mission of Burma and The Minutemen) enjoyed more large scale success and a larger cult following in the years following each band's demise. Heyday consists of a disc of the majority of the band's proper releases, and a second disc of b-sides, rarities, and live cuts. This is a band where the only thing I can say to accurately describe their music is "really fucking good." Just download this record, you won't be disappointed.

GOSH! Thanks so much for posting this one. I (along with a good-sized gang of others in Chicago) was a big fan of the Embos in their "heyday". They would stay on my couch/floor whenever they played the Windy City. Brilliant live show, and they were very respected by loads of other musicians. Even saw them open for PiL at the Uptown once, basically stealing the show from Lydon and co. No lie.
