Don Caballero - Don Caballero 2

(Link Fixed 2/15/09)

This is, without question, my favorite Don Cab album, so I'm glad someone requested this rather than Punkgasm (which has its moments, but contains too much filler). This album is a grim reminder of the importance Ian Williams was to this band, and the Don Caballero name should have retired when he left the band, but Damon Che is a large and gumpy bastard who decided to contaminate their legacy by continuing to make 2 more albums, which are not bad necessarily, but should not be by the same band that created this album, seeing as Che is the only remianing member. When I saw "Don Cab" a few years ago, Che bragged that his music was played on the radio, which may have been his sad attempt at making some kind of joke, but really it just made him look like an asshole. He seemed to quiet down when some guy standing next to me decided to start mocking him, claiming that he was not a good drummer and that Zach Hill is better than him. Haha Good times. Fuck Che.

"a large and gumpy bastard"

just the best description of che ever. if you see them live, yell for them to play more earth, wind, and fire. he gets REALLY upset, because it reminds him that he's a fucking thief.

This is one of the best blogs ever, and it WOULD be the best blog ever if you used the multitude of other sites that are better than rapidshare: mediafire, megaupload, badongo, zshare...

haha have you failed to notice that we use mediafire for EVERY post, unless it is over 100mb? and, have you failed to notice that your downloading speed varies from site to site according to your connection? Rapidshare downloads faster than any other site for me, and I'm sure another site downloads faster for you. We can't please everyone that visits here.

Re: David
I actually spoke to the guitarist for Ponytail after a recent show, they're just kicking off their U.S. tour after a European tour with Don Cab.
He said that that's largely a misconception, che looks like he gets pissed off but he's really not.
idk. the politics of it seem to have worked out, he doesn't really have much of anything to say about battles either. Regardless, he's just a huge drunk who comes off as being a douche.

listen, man, i really appreciate your posting of this album, because it's the only don cab album i didn't have. however i completely disagree with what you said. don cab would have been equally as poor off without damon as it is without ian. they were each half of the band (except for the fact that it was a trio...). if either of them had left the band would have sucked. i don't know how you can actually listen to the early don cab albums and not realize how important the drums are!!!!

the only thing you said that I agree with is that old don cab is so different from new don cab that they don't both deserve to be called "don cab," and that damon should have changed the name. other than that, you really missed the mark with your introduction to this album.

@Julian

thank you for your unnecessary comment. if you would have read the review clearly, you would have realized that i never stated that Ian was more important than Che, i merely referred to his importance, and without him, it just isn't Don Cab. in fact, i believe that the drums are more important (especially on this record), nor did i say i agreed with the fan that claimed Zach Hill was a better drummer. the second half of your comment nullifies the first half, and we actually agree. so please be a little more cautious before whining.
