Ty Segall - s/t

Oh my goodness. A very impressive debut full-length from a BBQ-esque one man band from Cali. Fuzzy surf/garage is always good, but Ty Segall is the real deal. Soul-drenched vocals with reverb that would make John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees proud. Good enough to make a run for our top 10 albums of the year list.

unsolicited opinion:
Have A Nice Life's "Deathconsciousness" is (IMHO) bar-none, no questions asked, the best album of 2008.
if you haven't considered this fact, now you may.

keep up the great work. i love your guy's blog.

Hey man. Sweet blog. You put up some pretty hot stuff. I added a link to your blog from mine so I'll be checking back frequently. I'm especially digging that Wavves tape.

Kieran, I'm totally with you about Have A Nice Life. I love that album. I wouldn't call it best of 08 but it's still pretty fantastic. And some truly badass song names, too.
