Mario Gonzalez - Sueisfine

Experimental beats out of Chicago. Touches on quite a few electronic sub-genres. "Think young Aphex Twin with girl problems and growing pains. Beautiful and violent. Polished and
strung out." Edition of 50. Grab it for 6 bones from Already Dead Tapes.

Lasso - The Return of Lasso

Incredibly refreshing lofi country music out of Kalamazoo, MI. Layers of reverb and haunting vocals give this a psychedelic vibe that seems pretty hard to come across within such a streamlined genre. Cassette (edition of 100) is out on Kzoo label Already Dead Tapes, which is nearing its first music festival The Already Dead Family Reunion on September 10th. Only $5 and the first 50 attendees get a free cassette. Be there.

Wavepool Abortion - s/t

Debut release from this Moscow teen duo. Feels a little Wavves at first, but their sound expands as you get deeper into the record. Really great pop tracks. Cassette recently released on DZ Tapes, and name your price download through bandcamp. A must have.

Haunted Leather - Desert Spells

Yet another release that spent far too much time in our inbox because I'm a lazy son of a bitch. Heavy stoner psych 3-piece out of Grand Rapids, MI. Thick riffs and thicker spliffs. If you're interested in a cassette, you can grab one with a $5 donation @ their bandcamp

Kohwi - Hidden Trees

Embarrassed to say that this one has been sitting in our inbox since December of 2010. Sample-heavy "electroacoustic psychedelic sleep music" project out of Ann Arbor, MI. You provide the headphones, Kowhi brings the positive vibes. This cassette was released on Wonder Beard Tapes last year (and is sold out), but you can pre-order the LP/CD version which is dropping in a month or two courtesy of Black Tent Press.

Phalangius - The Cambridge Library Murders

One of the more interesting records I've come across in last couple of months, The Cambridge Library Murders sounds like the soundtrack to a lost 70's giallo flick. Phalangius is actually a DJ who operates under 20 or so different monikers. I'm not terribly familiar with his work, but as far as I can tell this was a one-off effort. If you're a fan of prog rock horror soundtrack icons Goblin or 70/80's horror films in general, you owe it to yourself to check this album out.

2 Ton Bug - Weddings of the Century

Rowdy junkyard blues-punk from New Haven, CT. Slide-guitar, synth, megaphone, and literal trash percussion.

Jesuslesfilles - Une Belle Table

First heard these guys when they sent us their split with The Peelies a few months back, but I've been meaning to give this release from last year an actual post since then. Really been into this one. French Canadian pop/indie/garage that's filled to the brim with infectious vocal hooks. I don't even know what the fuck they're saying, but I find myself singing along anyway.

VIDEO: Lil Daggers - Dada Brown

Lil Daggers just dropped their debut LP (which is quite good) on Tuesday. You can listen to the record in full at their bandcamp, but you're going to want to pick up the vinyl at limited fanfare Records. If you never checked out their 7" EP I posted in March of last year, do that now.
